Thoughts of Thank

I was working on a comprehensive list of the things that I’m thankful for since Thanksgiving is coming up, but I started having trouble putting them together in a creative way. Since this is obviously not that list, I guess it could be on Wednesday or Friday or never, who knows! Just in case I end up unable to appropriately put how I feel into words in an interesting way, I guess I’ll just say that there’s a lot of things I’m thankful for. Especially after all of the introspection I’ve done over the past few months. But here’s a quick and not-so-unrelated poem:

When I think of regret
I find you there
with your vigilant smiles
and lack of care.

But I’m instead thankful
for having known you
because I’ve grown so much
and learned a bit too.

And I may wear those smiles
next I see you, brother.
But I’ll fade into memory
just like the others.
